Nancy's Story
My husband, Jim, and I moved from KS back to Sheldon in 2007 in the home in which I grew up! Since then I have gotten involved in numerous activities -- I am the Director now of Program & Resource Development at Indianhead Community Action Agency, primarily writing grants for many program areas for the agency - and involved in overseeing several of these grant programs. It feels so good to be back home, but my two children Brandon and Kristin live so far away - Brandon in the Seattle area, is a guitar builder and Kristin and her husband my two grandchildren now live in Franklin, TN. fully we'll be able to travel to them to visit. But it feels good to be back home again after having been gone for so many years!
It's been a good life, however, all involved with education -- living in Madison for 17 years and working with schools in WI; living in Denver and working for an organization there for 6 years where I worked with schools all over the United States and in Palau; living in Lawrence, KS and teaching at the University of KS and directing a federally funded statewide program; and then the move back home. I have never second-guessed the move back home. It feels right to be back here and be able to contribute to the school district and the local community.
