One of Nancy's favorite quotes is:"Coach Howe: "The B side then took to the field against what appeared to be a very apprehensive Richmond B side.... After getting bludgeoned towards their goal line Richmond got heaved off their ball at a scrum and our little hamster of a scrumhalf Cadet Ross picked up the ball and dove in to score the first try for VMI to lead 5 to 0. More of the same from the killer Bs and at 15 minutes once again Cadet Ross (who really is a gifted athlete for sure. nd, and land on his feet unharmed. ATTENTION CADETS. Do not throw Cadet Ross off the 4th stoop to try this out, the coach is making a joke and does not wish to see this put to the test) picking the ball from the back of a ruck close to the goal line snuck under the defense (its not like he has to bend much to do that) for another score which was converted by Cadet Tharp for VMI to lead 12 to 0."
VMI Rugby Coach: "Special mention must be made in a losing effort off Cadet Ross who playing at scrumhalf and captained the side did everything. A converted gymnast he is one of the best athletes on the team and he lead from the front on everything. Defense, offense, tap kicks, drop kicks, kickoffs, penalties, scrums, lineoutâs, rucks, and mauls, I wouldnât be exaggerating by saying he touched the ball every other pair of hands and his work ethic (think hamster on one of those little flywheels just going hell for leather for 80 minutes, except heâs actually not as big as a hamster) is something to be admired."".
