Nancy's Story
Life
From high school, I went to University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin where I got a BS in Music Education. I got married to Bruce Stanly, another UWM graduate in Music Education, and moved to Illinois where he had a graduate assistantship. I had a job in an elementary school which didn't work out. I then worked for the University of Illinois, took flute lessons, and played in band. In 1973 Bruce and I flew to Washington DC to audition for the US Air Force and US Navy Band. dren, Lina and Celeste, who are musicians and music teachers themselves. After retirement, I got a MS in music education and I am currently teaching music to 2-5 yr olds, 1st and 2nd grades, and have an afterschool instrumental program. My husband and I enjoy going out to dinner, drinking wine, attending concerts and the opera, have traveled throughout the US and made several trips to Europe. We have recently discovered Elderhostel and want to take advantage of it more during our school vacations. I love to cook, read mysteries, play and sing music. I am also good at giving tours of the Washington DC area if anyone cares to come out.
