Nancy's Story

It all started back at Tinicum where I met the kids who I would grow up with me during the 60's. I really loved the 60's - Flower Power, bell bottoms and the Beatles. I transferred to Nockamixon (serious protest) and loved gym, recess especially good at dodgeball. I remember the Violin teacher Mrs. Youngblood, and learning un petite pur French from one of our teachers in 5th grade, I also remember some bully named Kathy???? (she was 4th grade) Klyda Hutchins and Sharbet Wringley were my friends and made childhood bearable. Most of what I remember was not very fond memories of my school years, esp. ever since I touched an art object of Jean Stanley's where I suddenly got 'cooties' - that and a nickname of "Wally Gator" by Houseworth? That was so painful to be outcasted like that when all I wanted and what all kids want is to be accepted and part of their peer group. In High school I had a crush on Jeff Mease, but he was dissuaded by a whisper in his ear by Jim. (and again at the last reunion before this one from his sister) I also had a secret crush on Perry Fretz - (it's not a secret now) but back then who didn't? He was crowded at every lunch. Well thank god for Choir! I felt I was part of something greater. Charles Hansen was our teacher. I loved singing. Most of you who knew me back then might not have known or been aware that I was painfully sensitive, somewhat introver...Expand for more
ted, (deep in my thoughts dreaming, creating) skinnier than most (okay maybe you knew that) & was aware part of a small group that included Diane Reihman, Peggy Sassaman (R.I.P.) & Jean Stanley. I remember when we had our first black family move into the school district. I made friends with Michelle & Dorthea Newman who were really nice. After leaving y'all in '72 I moved to FLA. I remember Perry actually sorry to see me go when I had him sign my autograph book. I did not want to go as I felt I was starting to become part of & more accepted by the rest of my classmates, but I could do nothing - it was my parents separation. Only after I left High School in '75 did I realize I was attractive. I worked and lived in Center City in Insurance. Soon after I married, had a daughter who is now 31. my marriage lasted 10 years. I met someone else after I left, and have a son who is now 21. These two are the most and best parts of my life. During my life I have been a hairdresser, Secretary, Salesperson, Chauffeur, pool cleaner, Resident Assistant, Personal Assistant and now I'm involved in holistic health as a Reiki Master & Teacher, a Reflexologist, & certification in Bio Energy. I am also a photographer for holistic fairs and for myself. You can find me on Facebook - Nancy Jean Walton. So do more than sign my guestbook as I am not an upgraded Member - leave me an email.
