Nancy's Story
After MK I left for college in Southern California (Chapman University). During that time I was able to travel around the world on Chapman's World Campus Afloat - visiting 14 countries in Asia, Africa and Europe whiled studying at sea. After graduation and a year of graduate school I taught in Tucson Arizona for 2 years. Mr. Spinola (remember him?) called and asked me to come to teach at Valleyview Middle School in Denville and I came back. I taught for 8 years at Valleyview, 8 years at St. Mary's School and 20 years at Lakeview School. Mostly I taught health and physical education, but also science for St. Mary's. y Reserve, doing Basic Training at Fort Dix and Advanced Training at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. I completed 20 years, having traveled to Germany and The Netherlands 6 times. I retired as a Master Sergeant from the Army Reserves in 1999. On January 1, 2011 I retired from teaching after 38 years. Now I keep up a busy life volunteering in many areas. I was elected to the Denville Town Council - my first foray into politics and then resigned after my 4 year term was complete. I keep traveling and in 2010 visited Alaska, meaning I have now visited every state at least once. I have also traveled to 29 countries - each more exciting than the next.
