Nancy's Story
Well, when I joined the AF, I started out as an electrician. I spent my first 3 years traveling to good and crappy places, but learned to appreciate Mother America. We have no idea how good we have it. I changed career paths in the AF and became a paralegal. Now, I manage the legal office at Grand Forks AFB, ND. This is my 7th assignment and I'm hoping for a 8th back to Europe. I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath, Uk for 4 wonderful years, then went to Arizona for 3 years, on to Korea, NJ, NM, and now ND. I must be destined to hit every state that is 2 words. My hubby is also in the AF, so we do great...Expand for more
because we both understand the commitment. I feel so guilty about all of the time I have missed with my son being deployed or at training etc. Thank God, he is a pretty flexible and just rolls with it. Of course there are a lot of details, but it would take to much time to write it all down. I suppose, I made too many mistakes after high school and in my early years in the military, grew up and somehow have managed to get promoted and do well in the AF. Never in a million years did I think I would end of in the military. I will retire in 2013 and hopefully be able to take a government civilian job.
