Nancy's Story
Life
My Spouse
I met Mike through his cousin, our classmate, Cindy Haworth. He had just returned to Olympia from Viet Nam the summer after we graduated. We met in November of 1971 and were married in July of 1973.
My Kids
Jennifer, age 26, wed in July to her sweetie found in Florida while both were in schools for the military. John hopes to pursue a law enforcement career and Jenn is leaning towards marine biology.
Rick, age 28, is a successful auto body repair technician, currently working at Olympia Collision on South Bay Road and living close by.
My Job
I returned to Accounts Payable after a short foray in the Contracts office and am really enjoying being back! I am still looking forward to an early retirement, hopefully spending summers in Alaska and winters wherever. Can't wait - only five years to go!
School

s where we belonged in the first place, duh. Mrs Willis was a tough cookie in fourth grade, Mrs. Eager was firm but fair in fifth and Mr Dayton was a huge help in keeping me at grade level in sixth when I missed months of school due to a kidney infection. I continued through Shelton Jr High to Shelton High School. Belonged to the Pep Club, Latin Club (served as Consul one year) and the Rifle Club. (Still like to shoot!) I loved school and intended to be a teacher.
College
I earned an ATA in Accounting at SPSCC, taking 3 years of day and night classes while working and taking care of my husband and two small children - whew! Lots of work but worth it...helped me move from retail to office/state employment. Love accounting - balance is everything!
Workplace
Did my time in fast food (Arctic Cirle and A&W), then retail (Yardbirds), then moved to Accounting for the State and found my niche. I've been in Accounts Payable at L&I for the last ten years; only 5 more years until I can play full time, though, which is very enticing.
