Nancy's Story
Life
I was born in Ames, Iowa in 1946. My parents moved to California before I was a year old. I have one sister born in Salinas, California in 1948. We moved to Arcata, CA in early '50s and to Orange County in 1953, where I was raised and went to school through high school. After college at UC Santa Barbara (1964-68), I returned to CSU Fullerton for my teaching credential. I started my teaching career in 1969 with LAUSD. I retired in 2007 and am now enjoying every free minute. I have never been married and have no children, but I have had rats, bunnies and now only cats, which are as close to me as children would be. I own a house in N. Hollywood and one in Prescott, AZ, where I plan to move eventually. I've lost both my parents (Mom 1992, Dad 2002), who were fabulous. Life has been wonderful to me. I am very happy. My health is excellent,...Expand for more
and I have many long time friends. Who could ask for more!
Workplace
I began my career as an educator in 1969 when I taught high school biology. From 1970 to 1996 I taught middle school 8th grade science. I was department chairperson, a mentor, and workshop presenter for many years during that time. In 1996 I left the classroom to work as a full time mentor with new teachers. In 2000 I received my masters and administrative credential. I became an administrator in 2001 and returned to a school site as an assistant principal in 2002. I loved my work being with students and teachers. I feel I had an enormously positive impact on students. I am now retired (July, 2007) and doing all the things I love to do, especially traveling. I still teach, but at the college level (FIDM), a Biology class, both on site and online. Stay tuned for any updates!
