Nancy's Story
Life
I have just retired this year from the Indianapolis School System after almost 34 years of teaching. Last year I underwent surgery (lumpectomy), chemo, and radiation, so thought it was a good time to bow out of full time teaching. Things are looking good, but I still tire easily. I plan to do a lot of volunteer work at my church's little elementary school and at my last IPS school. I can't keep my fingers out of teaching kids. I am married to a wonderful man, Bill. Together we have 2 sons and 3 daughters. (I gave birth to 3 of them---2boys and 1 girl!!!) The girls are all married with children, my boys are still bachelors. Only one of my sons lives in Indy. My daughter has one little guy, who was a year on June 17 (2007). He lives in Texas so I don't get to see him often, but somehow I manage to spoil him. Together Bill and I have 9 grandchildren (2 steps, but our grandchildren nontheless) and one great-grandchild, a sweet little girl who will be a year in November and will moving to California. We live in Beech Grove, but are planning to move next year---probably spring. I so enjoyed ...Expand for more
our 25 year class reunion, but that
was in 1989. I hope we have another in the next few years (while we can remember each other). Take care and God Bless. Nancy Howell Greenwald
Update: 2011 I am now a granny of 3. My boys are no longer bachelors. One of them has a little girl, 3. My daughter now has added a little girl, now 2years, to the family. Her little boy is 5. Of course, I have step-grandchildren, a couple of them grown, but enjoy spending time with them also, although we don't see them enough.
I still enjoy volunteer teaching. My husband hasn't retired--doesn't really want to. We moved to the Southport area a couple of years ago and enjoy the neighborhood and our big, shady yard.
The class of '64 has been getting together once or twice a year. It is so good see everyone and we are hoping the group continues to grow. It has been really fun getting to know some of the people that I didn't know all that well in high school. Some of us "girls" meet once a month for lunch, and welcome more to the growing group. Hope to see a bunch of you at the October reunion at Shapiro's.
