Nancy's Story

Nancy is from Millington, Michigan. She is single. Her schools include Millington High School. She later attended None. She works(ed) at kroger, Action Associates Staffing Service, Metaldyne. Music Nancy likes includes Steve Miller Band, Eddie Money. One of Nancy's favorite quotes is:"Grandma and Me Were from such a large family you see. That Gram didn’t always get to be with me. But, when she was it was quality time. So, I thought I could come up with a rhyme. When I was younger and came to visit. I would go to these Meetings with her, as she wouldn’t want to miss it. Her friends would actually come and drive us there. They wanted Gram to always be able to have a share. At a place called the Kingdom Hall, there I’d hear so many good things. I always enjoyed the people too. They made Gram happy if she was blue. They talked about a Paradise. Where over the whole earth everyone would be nice. There would be no sickness, crying, tears, or pain. That even death would be no more. We learn it all from the Bible so we can know it’s for sure. That those who die would come to life and have the hope of living on a Paradise. So, then over time, though we lived far apart. These Bible truths had reached my heart. I’ll always be grateful to her friends you know. They were even with her when she had to go. Gram’s friends would come and help her in so many ways. She would often call and tell me of these good days. I can always remember the moments we had. When I think of Gram and I become sad. Of course I’ll be waiting for the time that’s due. When God will say”I’m making all things new”. He will Resurrect my Gram that Day ! And then I know I’ll be O.K. By Olive’s Granddaughter Nancy Hart 3-5-04 Poem #1 *Read at the Memorial Bridgeport, Congregation-copyright* I‘m a Cashier Here I am in 2004 and I am working for a grocery store. I am a full-time cashier and it can take on quite an atmosphere. I never planned to have this position but it seems to be what I have been given. So, I’ll try my best to set a fine example for the rest. For each customer we have to say” Do you have your plus card today?” And then in a nice way “Did you find everything O.K.?” We have to walk around and check every cart, Which doesn’t always make a good start. I try to give the kids a special sticker to make them happy and get them through quicker. I try to make it a game and guess a customers name. We have to be sure we bag things right, If a customers upset “It’s turn off your light!” Then sometimes these people have to come to our side and do what they call an override. Most of the time we stand right there, Unless we go for the card we share. Of course, at the end of each order we must say “Thank -you and have a great day!” Nancy Hart 3-6-04 *Poem #1 for Kroger store #526-copyright* Lisa We all here at this store want you to know, We’re Sorry to hear that you have to go. You did a fine job and were never a snob. Now, as we go in the break room to put up our feet and take a rest. We will remember you eating your Reese’s and reading your soap digest. We’re all so proud of you. Just, look how well you did. You were enduring and patient and got an excellent bid. Closer to home, more time to rest, Now, you can ALWAYS give KROGER your best. But, be careful and keep on your toes, Where and when the secret shopper is”No One Knows” Nancy Hart 4-7-04 *Poem#2 for Kroger Posted at time clock * Requested to write-copyright Our Goal We all work for a retail store, So let’s not make it a bore. Let’s not be anxious about being number one, Let’s just be ourselves and have some fun. So, now today when a customer walks by, Just try it, try saying “Hi”. How happy it makes them, they’ll smile too! For you have no idea what they’re going through. We want to make them feel welcome when they are here, Always offer assistance and steer them clear. Keep this in mind and stay on your toes, Where and when the mystery shopper is… Nobody Knows ! Nancy Hart 10-30-06 *Poem #3 Kroger #526 on the Kroger Net and monthly news letter- copyright* Time and Money Once were in and on the clock for the day, that’s the time we start making our pay. Just imagine what your day would be if others didn’t leave directions for you to see. It would be hard to follow through if you didn’t know exactly what to do. We need to listen so we can learn, then we’ll do good when it’s our turn. We need to see all that’s been done and follow their pattern and have some fun. When one leaves and another comes in we need to keep things straight. Therefore, we can’t be late. Don’t you want them to do their best, when we change shifts and go home to rest? If we do we need to think about this too. Because, what we ALL do reflects back to me and you. We ALL represent this place so let’s keep smiles on our face. Recognize the things we need to do and say them nicely both me and you. Try to help one another out and try to be patient and not pout. Take time to listen when one tries to explain this can help prevent much regret, sorrow and pain. So, when were working and collecting pay then our conversation when busy, talking or on the phone. “It should be work related I’d say”. Of, course let’s be considerate and show each other respect. When someone IS talking or on the phone this might be a good time to leave them alone. Just be patient and wait or return. This seems to be something we ALL need to learn. When we show respect we’ll know when to clock in and out, we won’t have to be reminded with a shout. Because, we all have our lives and so many different things to do, like being with our families, appointments and recreation too! We don’t want to be late when we have a date. This makes it clear why we need each other here. One takes over when the other is gone and in this way the work goes on. Now, we can see it’s true that it’s what we ALL do that makes our store a success. It’s how we work together and clean up each other’s mess. It’s how we continue to manage things on time. It’s for this reason I wrote this rhyme. When we know that things are being done right, we’ll ALL have better sleep at night. Then our money that we will make. We will know we earned it and so feel good to take. Let’s play it cool and obey the rule. Let’s continue to make our 2008 great. Let’s practice not being LATE!!! Nancy Hart 9-19-08 *Poem #6 Kroger #526 -copyright We are a Team It all came to me one day, so I thought I’d write about what we say. To the public it would seem that we are a team. Let’s not let them down or make each other frown. Let’s put a smile on our face and build up our work place. Let’s look for the good the way we should then it will seem we really are a team. Let’s think of positive things to say about one another. After all being a team is like sister and brother. It takes time for a person to see who we really are this you and me. Let’s not take their reputation away by something hurtful we may say. This is a problem we need to address. If we do, I believe we will find much success. This is something we all can do. This is not just written for a certain few. Let’s be real and consider how we make others of our team feel. How easily we can ruin their good name and others of their team don’t look at them the same. I think we al...Expand for more
l can improve in this. If we just stop and think and make it our wish. Think of how it makes another feel when their good name we steal. Does this really build up our team, or does it just lower their self-esteem? We can turn this around instead of running our team in the ground. There are always things that we can do to help this change for me and you. Like change the subject, walk away, or think of something nice to say. We can always work on being one and have some fun. For example when we hear someone say something unkind about one of our team today. We could ask “would you say it over the P.A.?” Or, “if you are not bold enough to say it to their face then don’t ruin their reputation in their workplace.” What is it that makes us do this anyway? Do we want all the attention on ourselves that day or is it just were all imperfect and need to watch what we say. So, if these few things we can keep in mind each day. Then we will all be learning the better way. The sooner we recognize we all have an important part. The more we will respect each other from the start. So, now let’s all remember to ask ourselves-Am I the one that at the end of my day can say, “I said nothing unkind about our team today”, “I said nothing I would not have said over our P.A.” We will be careful what we say about others at our store. When we remember it takes us all to get a good score!!! Nancy Hart 2/24/07 *Poem #4 Kroger #526 Published on April 12th 2007 in Milford Times-copyright* What Matters Most To Me What matters most to me is who you really are. Many men think it’s having lots of money and the finest house and car. But, to me that’s not the most important thing you see. It’s much more important how you would treat me. Would it matter to you how I feel about things or would you just think all I want are pretty and expensive things. Would you really listen when there is a problem and I talk or would you rather just take a walk. Today, I have to work, make money and pay the bills after that I’m tired, not a lot of time for thrills. So, what matters most to me is someone willing to share the things that need to be done and then of, course to have some fun. I need someone who wants to cook with me. I haven’t a lot of practice you see. I need someone who watches their diet and health you see. Because, these things are important to me. What matters most to me is someone who can keep his finances and priorities straight. One who wants the bills paid first and then possibly go out on a date. Then, too not to be mean. But, I need someone clean. Mind, body, and home. This is a sure way they won’t roam. I need someone to walk and talk and share experiences with me. Because, this is what matters to me. I need someone who’s gentle and has a soft touch. I need lots of romance, kisses, flowers and such. I need someone who’s willing to be a real man and say “I Love You” in front of all and take his stand and hold my hand. I need someone who can put his arms around me. Someone who can say “I’m Here and Always will be”. I need someone who will be my partner through and through. One who truly cares about the things I do. What matters most to me is someone who will honor a vow. Not one who can’t face a challenge and say “I’m Leaving Now”. Not one who will run away when there is a problem to solve. But, one who will want to stay and work things out, because he does not want his marriage to dissolve. One who wants it to last not just for now. But, one who truly desires to live up to his vow. One who will cherish his wife and make her feel proud. Not one who will yell or be loud. What matters most to me is someone who will turn off the TV and study with me. So, for these reasons I’m looking for a spiritual man you see. One who has time to read the Bible with me. One who wants to apply what it says you see. This is what matters most to me. I want to share with others what we learn. I want you to be with me when it’s my turn. What matters most to me is someone with a reputation you see. Someone, spiritual like me. I’ve been given a second chance you see. So, I take dating seriously. I’m trying to do things right this time. So, for this reason I wrote this rhyme.
