Nancye's Story
I always wanted to be a archeologist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a crazy idea. As it turns out, they were probably right but I loved it anyway.I decided to get a job at the Old Bristol Memorial Hospital after graduation from High School. I became so interested in the Nursing profession I enrolled in college at ETSU and got a degree in Nursing. Following my board exams I worked as an RN in CCU/ICU. I took a brief break to work in politics for 2 years. I was Field Director of the Reagan/Bush Committee. I also served as National Committeewoman for the Young Republicans from Tennessee and as Tennessee State Secretary for the Tennessee Young Republicans. I went back to work following a short time in D.C. I returned to the Tri-Cities but soon became restless and decided to travel. I became a traveling nurse and worked in several different states where ever there was a shortage of ICU nurses. I fell in love with Texas and ended up living in Corpus Christi. My daughter was a teenager and into modeling. She became Miss Teen Texas and her career took off. ology. I went back to school and got a BS in Sociology/Anthropology and MS in Medical Anthropology. Later I obtained my doctorate in Medical Anthropology.
It was strange having people call me Dr. Smith after all this time. I was part of several projects involving studying native children in the South American Jungle. I really enjoyed the travel and the work but my mother became ill requiring triple bypass surgery. I returned to Bristol and cared for her until her death. My next plan is to spend some time with my daughter in LA. She is an actress and works as a runway model for Vera Wang. Her recent photo shoot will be in the next Brides Magazine. She is engaged to a movie and music video producer and will be getting married in January. I have two Beautiful grandchildern - one boy Alan-Michael and one girl- Alexandria who goes by Ali. She is starting College and wants to be a Trauma Physician. My grandson is going into Criminal Justice and wants to be a Police Officer. So my life has been very full and happy. Now I find myself 60 years old and in shock that the time has past by so quickly. I am back in Bristol and trying to reconect with old friends from my high school days at Blountville.
