Naomi's Story
It's quite a challenge to condense 60 years into a few sentences, but I'll try:
Undergrad school at Sioux Falls College (BA, music educ.); married Smith (Pete) Armstrong from eastern Kentucky but who was stationed at Ellsworth AFB in the band when we met. Moved to Washington, DC, where he sang with the AF Singing Sergeants. We then taught in eastern KY for a few years until he decided to go to dental school. We moved to Lexington, KY in 1964, and have been here ever since. Pete completed dental school and had a private practice here and I earned two masters degrees (music educ. and voice) and taught at the Univ. of KY and in the public schools. We had two children. Pete died in 1985.

married Ted Broida, a Berkely grad. in electrical engineering who also worked as a consultant in economic development. We had wonderful opportunities to travel--many trips to Europe as well as Japan, China, New Zealand and Australia. Unfortunately, Ted now has a fairly advanced case of Parkinson's, so i currently spend a lot of time as a caregiver, but I manage to stay involved with most of my interests: music (still sing with a large community group), church choir, opera--I've been on the boards of two opera companies and the Univ. of KY School of Music.
Other interests include: grandschildren (3 boys), reading, gardening, needlepoint, and last but not least: my beautiful springer spaniel, Taylor.
