Natalie's Story
Life
Life is a blessing--something I learned the chaotic way after dealing with cancer in early 2006. I was lucky to have landed in the hands of an amazing surgeon, and with the support of friends and family, I've made it through. Plans for a family have been altered, but I've made up my mind that if I have to work harder to have one, it must make it that much more worth my while. In April '07 I married the man of my dreams, and there's no other partner with whom I could face hurdles like these. We've found a surrogate and as of January '08, we're on our way!
My family is in one piece. Andrew remains in Durango. He lives with his 2 1/2 year old son and girlfriend and is quite content. We are very good friends; his tales of hunting, fishing and camping keep me grounded in the small town values I treasure. I do have to say that my nephew is proba...Expand for more
bly one of the cuter kids I've every laid eyes on!
My mother is living with my Grandma Sue outside of Memphis. She spends her time keeping up with the farm, substituting up the road at a private school, and dabbling in arts and crafts. She's healthy and happy (most of the time!). We get back there as often as we can, and of course my mother never minds coming to visit sunny CA.
Workplace
I cut my teeth on advertising sales at the Wall Street Journal early on, and it's led me to a number of exciting opportunities. Most of my time has been spent under the direction of a dear friend, Bernice, who has taken me under her wing and been my mentor since the beginning. We're now leading the charge at the Los Angeles Business Journal and can see our way to a record-breaking year-end. It's a great group, and I truly enjoy coming to work (nearly!) every day!
