Nate's Story

Hello to all. After graduating from Weequahic I spent my next four years at Delaware State University (HBCU). Afterwards, I joined the US Navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer after traveling and serving for 22 years of honorable active duty service visiting 3/4 of the world on land and sea, a very maturing life experience. In the process I also walked away from a WARRANT OFFICER TWO Selection (Non-Commission) on 30 June 1999 in order to watch my sons grow into the fine professional young men they've become today. By sacrificing my personal opportunities I missed no "Kodak" moments! *smile* I married my beautiful college sweetheart (Martina Pinkett Dancy) in 1981. We're happily coming up on 41 beautiful years of marriage on 14Feb2022. I love her just as much today as I did the day we said our wedding vows. I know now the Living GOD didn't intend for me to marry any other woman. She is TRULY my "Soulmate"! After 40 years She retired as a Top US Naval Regional Contracting Officer (covering the regions from NW Florida to San Antonio and Corpus Christi TX) from the Federal Government US Naval Civil Service after 40 years of outstanding distinguished service on 03Jan 2018. In 2015 she was voted the #1 ranked Naval Civilian Contracting Officer in the nation beating out four other outstanding national finalists! What I love the most about her is regardless of the hype concerning her success in anything she ALWAYS maintains an air of HUMILITY and gives all the thanks and praises to the LORD for her success/blessings. She's always been my support base since our college days and has truly been the one who has changed my life/character for the better! I also had my second federal retirement - this one from US Naval Civil Service as a Federal Government Program Analyst on 31Dec 2017. During that period, I was responsible for the military training and advancements for over 2,000 Naval Commands worldwide (Active & Reserve) for Paygrades E4 - E7. working directly with Washington DC and Millington TN naval military offices. I was also a major point of contact for the US NAVY's E8/9 Selection Boards. A very honorable and technical expertise position! It earned me Civilian of the Year TWICE! We raised two excellent, respectful adult sons who graduated from Delaware State University (Paris') and University of West Florida (Carnell/ "CJ"), along with having a wonderful daughter-...Expand for more
in-law (Alisha) who's a graduate of Pensacola State College, and three adorable grandchildren (Joshua, Zoe & Jaxon). We are homeowners who have resided in beautiful Pensacola, FL for over 36 years (built 2 different homes here). My family stayed here whenever I received US Naval orders assigning me away from them. We always had a great network of neighbors/friends looking out for them in my absence. One recent significant note - I was recently inducted into the Delaware State University Athletic Hall of Fame for Football on 3-4 September 2021 and enshrined in the University's new Hall of Fame Sports Museum. Included in my photos attached here with my Bio is a picture with another DSU HOFamer Great, Luther Howard, also a graduate of Weequahic two years before me wearing our DSU Alumni ball caps on the day after my induction! We played together in college and were both record-setters! Incidentally, three of the four starting defensive backs in our DSU secondary during our time of 1971-1975 have all been inducted into the DSU HOF! We were an outstanding unit, and they were some of the BEST athletes I ever had the privilege of playing with! **PS: I would also be REMISS not to be thankful to my KING/LORD/SAVIOUR that I have been Blessed to have the FINEST Mom and In-Laws a man could ever hope to be both a son and brother-in-law to through the Living GOD'S favor shown to me! My LORD/SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST, who I gave my life to 45 years ago in 1977 has been merciful and gracious to both my family and I! (Matthew 6:33.......Proverbs 3:5-6) Blessings on top of BLESSINGS by HIS Grace & Mercy so undeserved! I'm not perfect. I'm thankful that HE still has me "Under Construction"! **Soft Smile** In addition I'm rendering MANY THANKS to the real friends/associates (especially the "down to earth" NON-ATHLETES and ATHLETES who became some of my BEST, TRANSPARENT, LOYAL, DEDICATED and TRUEST friends who looked BEYOND my athletic skills in order to come to know the REAL me as a person - (especially Sharon Williams! and her family) that I made in my one year of attendance at Weequahic which is filled with so MANY WONDERFUL and PRECIOUS memories I shall NEVER, nor ever want to forget, and for being able to graduate with two of my favorite cousins thanks to my late Coach Burney Adams and my late Aunt Lois Jones who helped to talk me and my family into transferring to Weequahic - Thurmon "Skip" Jones (QB) & Clementine "Tina" Motley (Twirler)! Love you both!! Transferring to Weequahic was the BEST move I ever made! MARANATHA!
