Nathaniel's Story
After graduation, I went into he Navy as an Electrician's Mate in the Nuc Power Program. I got out of that program due to medical issues, and regret that a lot. I served on the USS Point Loma AGDS-2 out of San Diego, then briefly on the USS Kittywake ASR-13 out of Norfolk Virgina, before going back to the Point Loma. I went back to school in Great Lakes, then to Instructor Basics school in Meridian, Mississippi. I then was stationed at the Naval Reserve Center in Huntington, West Virginia where I served as the Training Officer, and the sole engineer to keep the mechanicals working. t to the USS Oldendorf DD-973 out of Yokosuka Japan where we deployed to the Persian Gulf for Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. On the way back to Japan, I was initiated into being a Shell Back for crossing the equator. We returned to the States for a major overhaul in Long Beach California where worked mostly in supply, making sure we got all the new repair parts and things from the changes made to the ship. One last time I'm transferred to Great Lakes, where I taught at the Marine Gas Turbine Hot Plant. I retired in 1997 and went on to teach a civilian at the base. In November of 1998 I got in trouble with the law and spent time in prison. I have now discharged from my criminal case and I'm looking forward to moving out of the state of Wisconsin and starting a hobby farm to end out my days.
