Neva's Story

A few months after graduation from St . Placid HS in 1983 I moved to the state of Michigan. This move was with Chris, the first true love of my life. I was there until I enlisted in the Navy & left for boot camp in December 1984. Needless to say that was the end of Chris & I. I loved being in the Navy, but was medically discharged in March 1988 as I was one of the first latex allergies in the dental & medical fields. Several months after my discharge I married my first husband, Ron. This marriage resulted in the birth of our beautiful daughter in 1990, Veronica Marie. This marriage ended in Hawaii where I met & married the second & life long love of my life. Within the first year of ...Expand for more
our marriage, Brian was medically discharged from the Marines. We decided Washington was not the place for our family. So we moved to Wisconsin where his parents lived. I was finally able to finish my college degree & ended up being a long term substitute teacher until I was hired full time by the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin. I started there in 2008 as a Grant Writer and left my position as the Senior Grant Writer in April 2014. I then started as a Grant Writer for the College of Menominee Nation the same month. Currently my daughter Veronica is a successful young business manager in Southern California. Brian enjoys retirement and I look forward to retiring in the next 12 years.
