Nick's Story
Life
Laura and I had 2 children, Loreal and Nicholas. Loreal is 11 and Nicholas is 10. They both live in San Antonio with Laura. I try to get home as often as possible, which is only twice a year if I am lucky.
They are both the sparkle in my eyes, and the fuel that keeps my heart pumping.
College
UT was awesome. I met some great people and took way too many tests!!! I was part of the NROTC, which was also an awesome experience, teaching people who knew nothing about the military, and most importantly, making sure they graduated.
I had been stationed in Norfolk, VA, for the 4 years prior, so it was nice to be back in TEXAS! I spent every weekend in San Antonio, and ...Expand for more
not on sixth street. I know that almost sounds too nerdy, but I spent valuable time with my family!
Workplace
I have spent over 14 years in the Navy. I have been stationed on the USS ARLEIGH BURKE DDG 51 (92-96), USS ELLIOTT DD 967 (99-01) most recently the USS LASSEN DDG 82 (03-present).
Working for the Navy has been very challenging, but VERY rewarding. I have missed almost everything with my kids, but I know that I am providing them with a safer life.
I am currently a LT in the Navy and will be attending the Naval Post Graduate School next year. The Navy also sent me to UT Austin, and commissioned me in 1998. I was enlisted for 8 1/2 years prior to my commissioning.
