Nick's Story

Life In essence I set out to truly answer all those questions of the late late party night conversations. What is out there?, what is God?,why am I here?, why do I feel like crap most of time and good only some of time????.. You know, the ones that everybody asks one time or another. So, after high school, I started inducing myself in absurd quantities of sensory drugs: acid, mushrooms, extacy all that fun stuff. I found myself checking out the Rave scene. As unconfindent as I was at that time about dancing, I found my way in anyway. I found myself gettin my groove on while feeling the oneness of a crowd groovin to a techno beat. I met a lot of insanely neat people that I love dearly. But, unfortunatley my questions were not answered there. I came to the conclusion that the drugs probably didn't create me so they probably couldn't give me the answers to what I was looking for. It was a sort of Jim Morrison theory of breaking through to the other side, the bliss. I guess then I quit drinking and using drugs and started reading a lot about spirituality and checking out different Gurus who said they were enlightened. I even went on to live with a group of people who sought the same thing. It turned out that they were actually a nutty scary cultish group who wanted power and money. Luckily my friend Ambrose, an ex-hippy had a lot of experience with groups like these in the 60's. He more or less on day showed up at the house where we were living and dragged me out on my behind. Who knows, if he never came a...Expand for more
long I might have wound up sitting on a downtown street corner naked chanting or singing songs. Anyway, at that point I was so tired of searching for enlightenment that I convinced myself to stop and just be content with not finding the answers. I finished college, got my masters and began teaching kids. A few years passed and I forgot about the search until.....one day.....I walked into a bookstore and there was a flyer more or less shouting out to me. It was a meditation that was held in the park behind La Mesa Jr. High school, a familiar place for most of us. I went and the people lead me through a simple technique. They said it would awaken an energy which lies inside of every human being and that I would feel a cool air coming out from the top of my head. I did the technique and I felt the cool breeze right away! It was amazing! Later I would be told that if a person holds his/her hand above a baby's head over the soft spot, one could feel the same cool breeze (try it, its true) Three months after doing this meditation, I fell into a blissful state for three days straight! I knew that it was something devine. In one moment's time I undstood everything. My mind was completely silent and I was feeling Nirvana a truly extactic state. I felt like I did when I was five years old, full of life and totally at ease. Now I have more and more days like this. If you want to do this technique you can go to sahajayogasd.org click on experience it now. check it out, its a truly blissful experience. Love Nick
