Nicola's Story
Hmm...where to start? Well, I graduated from Cyril High School in 1987 and moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts. Did some fun things during my college years, including sailing across the Atlantic Ocean on a 125-foot schooner and taking up sky-diving. Graduated from MIT in 1991 with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Spent the next few years cleaning up hazardous waste at Superfund sites around the United States. (Funnily enough, I heard that the old Cyril Refinery was declared a Superfund site but I never worked on that one.)
I really enjoyed environmental engineering, but after a few years I decided to go to law school. I met my husband-to-be (Seth) my first semester of law school and we graduated from Columbia Law School in 1997 and moved to Los Angeles, California. I spent the next seven years doing patent litigation for technology companies. Seth and I also did a lot of traveling -- Peru, Israel, Estonia, Cambodia, Jordan, Thailand, Australia, Finland, Spain, etc. etc. So fun...Expand for more

We got married on September 3, 2000; bought a house in Brentwood (a neighborhood on the westside of Los Angeles) in 2002; and now have four children (Michael, born in 2004; Alexander, 2006; Naomi, 2008; and Benjamin, 2010). We are very lucky that we can afford for me to stay at home full-time with the kids, which I love. Los Angeles is a great place to raise children, with gorgeous weather all year long and beautiful beaches and parks. Our children go swimming in our pool almost every day and I'm having a great time with them.
We haven't done much traveling since we started having kids, although we did manage to take the two older boys to England a couple of years ago (14 hours, non-stop, on a crowded plane -- yeah THAT was fun!) We look forward to traveling a bit more as the children get older. In the meantime, if you find yourself heading out to Los Angeles, please let me know. I'd love to reconnect with some old friends. Who knows? Maybe we'll have a 25th High School Reunion in 2012!
