Nils's Story

I remember a xmas gift that was givin to me when I was about 10 years old it was a steam engin that ran on alchol cubes and I've watched a whole culture do the same thing "myself included for a short while" and wonder how longe can it run on that and still hold togather, maybe its time for something else maybe a little less pressured My first job was at Vitramon, where I got paid peanuts to build baking oven convyor lubrication injectors. What I remember most about it is the people that worked there were just small town easy going people just getting by and liking it.. I'm not sure if anyone remembers Bruce Bartow, When I moved to Monroe in 1961 i moved here from Yonkers NY and didn't know a sole, had kind of a gruf demeaner sort of a NY chip on my shoulder. It was in the summer and he (Bruce) wandered into my yard to say hello and sort of curious about the new kid in the area.We became the very best of friends and stayed that way up untill he went in the navy, He was gifted in music and in speach but was far from a warrior but he made it back ,But someware in the journey he lost his will or disire ,He stuggled to regain his balance but never realy did,and passed away in a car crash due to his inability to focus. To this day I think of that as a loss not only to his family and friends but the loss of a talent that had so much to say that could have been a strong voice for change. As I look back and think about which teacher I would like to see and talk to again Mr. McCauly my history teacher pops into mind, his perspective on current events would be most interesting to hear. You know life doesn't turn out the way you expect it too. I left after high school and went to work in westport as a contour die maker, making forming dies for turbine engine veins, lost interest in a little less than a year.Left and took a few months off than went into the navy, a shot time in had my ear drum blown out from of all things a cold, got sent home on an honrable discharge. Than started working at Sikors...Expand for more
ky's as a template maker for the outer skins on the sky crane. After that project I just kicked around for about a year, some travel to Canada, than went to Uccon for Real Estate Brokers lic. thought it would be fun to sell condo's the first in the state at the time.Did ok but had too much time on my hands and of coarse pary time filled the gap. My first wife Robin managed to drag to my senses and I went back to working as a lab tech for aircraft sensing devices, we tried to make the marrige work but it just wasn't going to make it, so back to kicking around again and just before leaving my lab tech job I met my wife Judi and after 39 years we are still together. I started working for a postage machine company called Ascom they make postage meters like P B but thier from Switzerland, came to the market here in 1982 woundup doing feild service for them for some 15 years. During a lay off from them I started dolng some photography just to keep busy. However as time went by I started doing some photo's for the democratic party campaign's as well as some portraits for the judicial review board judges in hartford,I continued to freelance with the press for a while at the same time selling jeeps to make ends meet.the freelancing stopped when G.W.Bush Jr. got into office(still don't know how). Still sold jeeps up to a year ago when I had to leave not just a bad economy but a dealer owner coming unglued said it was time to go.So here I sit 62 still haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up, I don't see the world growing up much either,of coarse the world does show some signs of getting nastier, but that might just be my view, how's it look to you? So I figured I'd get a first hand look four my self and just got my Ct. Bail Bondsmans lic. I have a lot of trouble understanding why people are so quiet when thay don't have health care and there getting screwed so badly and paying more taxes for it than ever, my guess is it won't be like this for much longer. somthings gotta change
