Norbert's Story
Stroman was a great place in the 70's. In the morning: standing in the band hall wind tunnel with Bobby Cantu and James Lopez, waiting to say hi to Cindy Shurber. Playing four square with crumpled wax paper Coca-Cola drink cups during lunch by the picnic tables or playing paper football in the cafeteria tables.
Learning the Cotton Eyed Joe at Dacosta Hall dance as a school project!! So many stories to share.
Like being president of the FTA and scheduling meetings in the evening so I could get a chance to talk to this one girl I had a strong crush on since the eighth grade at Patti Welder. I won't mention her name, but her initials were Cindy S.
Tommy Terrell, Jimmy Waters, James Lopez and I heading out to Blue Waters after Friday Night Football games for the ceremonial cigar and post game analysis.
Making Senior Road Trips in the Tommy's "Orangemoblie."
These years ...Expand for more
molded our identities and taught us to understand our similarities and embrace our differences.
I am a better human being due to the friends, teachers, and administrators of Stroman High School.....
I went to UT at Austin majoring in Electrical Engineering for two years until I reached a point in my life where I wanted to give back. So I joined the Navy to see the world, and I saw alot!! Submarines, battleships, destroyers, cruisers, and amphibious assault ships full of my favorite weapons...U. S. MARINES! 29 years with 4 wars and an assortment of humanitarian assistance adventures. I love the Sea.
Retired from the Navy and became a Mathematics Teacher at Gregory-Portland High School. Retired from teaching after 20 years service. I felt I had a good impact on a lot of our country's future. My life is Blessed.
I feel blessed for each day and look forward for the next.
