Noriel's Story
Life
At the moment I'm working at UT Houston Medical school in Organ Transplant. I am in charge of the Flowcytometry lab. Life is very good right now. I'm married to a great woman. I life minutes from work, which enables me to be car-free for the most part. Commuting and riding around on my Fuji Track bike keeps me healthy and sane.
School
In school, I loved art class, english, and drama. I didn't take any drama classes, though. I didn't like english until we started getting into more poetry and creative writing. I wish I could have taken the opportunity to meet more of the people in school. For those of you that thought I hated you, you probably deserved it. I'm a pretty amicable person, and if you rubbed me the wrong way, you probably did so with barbed wire sleeves. I hold no grudges against you now, it's all in the past. College
I went to school at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I don't think I could've hacked it in Austin, as I probably would have found too many distractions, and have joined the ranks of failed asians from UT. I met my wife at UTSA. It took going out of town to meet a Houston girl. We're celebrating our second year of marriage.
Workplace
At the moment, I'm actually using my Biology degree to use. I'm a Histocompatibility Technician at The University of Texas Medical school in Houston. What does that mean? I make sure that patients that need organ transplants get the best, most compatible organ they can get. I go on call, and I like to freak out my friends when I tell them that every time my pager goes off, that means someone has died. I run the flowcytometry lab for tissue typing. I've been at this job for close to three years now. I like what I'm doing, as it's very fulfilling.
