Norma's Story

Norma grew up, and went to school through the 8th grade, at Hargill, TX. She went to high school at Edinburg. She is now retired. She lived and worked in Harlingen for a few years before moving to Monte Alto to work as an Executive Secretary at True Taste (frozen foods, concentrated orange and grapefruit juice plant). Went to work for the USDA and was working there when she and Bob got married. They moved to Goldsboro, NC within a couple of months, lived there 13 months before the USAF moved them to Chanute AFB in Rantoul, IL. After three years, her husband was transferred to Thailand so she and the children moved to Harrison, AR and lived there while he was gone. (they planned to live in Harrison after Bob's retirement). Upon his return from Thailand, they moved to Altus AFB in Oklahoma, but only live...Expand for more
d there about nine months before being transferred to Scott AFB (headquarters) in Southern Illinois for the 2 1/2 years before he retired. They moved back to Harrison, built their "forever" home, then eight years later, Bob had a job offer that moved them to Rogers, AR. It was difficult for them to leave Harrison, for Norma to leave her job, their church family, and their home that they loved, however, they settled in and have lived in Rogers for over 31 years now. Both Bob and Norma are active in their church. Bob serves as a Deacon and also the Treasurer. Norma is the Church Clerk, types the bulletin, directory, and any other documents that are needed. They have four children (one deceased in 2015), eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren with another great granddaughter due in January 2017.
