Norman's Story
I played baseball for the Raiders and attended most of the football games. Like a lot of us I was the guy who people saw in the hallway, but didn't really know their name.
After graduation from Sterling, my family and I moved to the Sharpstown area. I started college at U of H the same year I graduated from high school. After three years of college I decided I didn't want to sit behind a desk. I wanted something rewarding and exciting. So, I narrowed it down to the military and the fire department. I picked the fire department because I had a friend who did the same thing. I'm proud to say I spent 31 years working at the busiest station in the City of Houston. It was also one of the busiest in the country. I saw a lot and learned a lot. It was a very rewarding career and I have since retired.
I've been happily married for 40+ years now. I married a Sharpstown graduate and we have two adult daughters. One got married in April 2016. On December 14, 2018, we were blessed to have a beautiful granddaughter. I'm spending most ...Expand for more
of my free time playing with her and she's the light of my life. She and I are very close and I do everything I can to spoil her. :) We recently welcomed our second granddaughter. She's now 1 1/2 years old. Both of these girls are keeping me busy, but in a fun way. I'm also big into trail biking, staying healthy, and doing anything outdoors. I feel very fortunate.
I was going over some items in the closet and came across my old yearbooks. I started looking thru them reminiscing. I remembered the crushes I had on a couple of girls. Funny thing. When I was in the fire department I came across another fireman at a training class who also went to Sterling. He and I sat at the same lunch table with these two girls. We were both hitting on this one girl named Cindy even though she already had a boyfriend. We just laughed about it. Is it just me, but do you wish you could live high school all over again? I remembered the friends I had at Sterling and regret not keeping in touch with them........especially the girls. Haha
