Norman's Story
After high school, Norm went to UC Davis and received a BS degree in Biological Sciences hoping to work as a Field Naturalist, but ended up working in the Chemistry Laboratory at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard instead. Eventually, he went to Seattle University to finish a second BS degree in Chemistry and became supervisor of the Scientific Services Laboratory at the Bangor Submarine Base near Silverdale, Washington working as a civilian for the US Navy. His major interests were in materials science and forensic analysis. Norm finished a 32-year career in the laboratory in 2003.
Norm has been married to his 3rd wife, Sol Chua, for 32 years, and has 4 children: Darcie, Sandy, David, and Melissa plus 5 grandchildren...Expand for more

Since retiring from paid employment, Norm has worked in the non-profit sector, first as president of the Island Music Guild, an organization of music instructors. Then in 2005 Norm formed a new non-profit called Music Community Resources to produce coffeehouse concerts and festivals. In 2011-2012 Norm was president of the Bainbridge Island Special Needs Foundation, while also continuing his work in music promotion.
Norm continues to support live music now near their retirement home on the beautiful Hood Canal, see coyleconcerts on the web. Norm and Sol also volunteer at the local Food Bank.
