Patricia's Story

Life Hi Members of Class of 1968. I have had a very interesting life, allot of travels, moves, and in general a regular "Vagabond" of sorts. Met people from all walks of life, even some famous people we would all know and recognize. Was on a National Talk Show, met a National News Journalist (unfortunately within 6 months he passed away). I'm a true animal lover of mostly Dogs and Cats, and an occassional 'Hamster'. I have two children, although one is soon to be 30 and he is in the US Air Force and wanting to make a career of the Military. Much to my motherly concern. I have the Star of the Universe; in my true gift of a 16 year old daughter. This is my only child from my now second marriage, but even with her challenges of Aspergers', we are blessed to be her parents. Just wish more people could comprehend how great kids with any type of disability can be, and are. Now,as a parent of a child misunderstood much of the time;(by her peers)I can only hope our generation was different. I would like to think society was better in moral ways then, and we were more tolerant, or understanding to those different than ourselves, I often wish I had used more potential that I had, but hid behind inner personal pain from family issues. Too bad so many of us, back then didn't have the help that is so prevalent today. I am wanting to stilll finish college, and work on finishing two books that I have started, and also to have decorating business. I am a free and creative spirit. I have often thought about so many of the people that I passed in the halls each day at John F. Kennedy, and Washington High before.. Still love all types of Music, and happy that I have seen some of broadways best, and many of the greatest musical acts we still talk about today. I guess a few favorites would be a memory that I call truly magical. Setting on the lawn of outdoor ampitheater, just as the Stars bursts through the sky- hearing the Moody Blues sing 'Nights in White Satin'. Little River Band-from Australlia. Neil Diamond. Seeing Janis Joplin live onstage in Miami Beach in 1971. That was beyond my safety zone. One of those go with friends and their friends, I was not a 'Janis Joplin' lover or her style. Santanna, became a great favorite. I have had a life of really very little regret. Been blessed many times over, especially my ki...Expand for more
ds. My husband now has Parkinsons' Disease, and I hate that. He was drafted in 1969, from Pittsburgh, Pa(of course years before we met. A Sniper in Viet Nam that War we don't like to think about. His PTSD and effects of Agent Orange are trying to rob us great years now. But we have been together for 18 years and we are bound and determined to make our years just MARVELOUS. Sorry will add pictures soon, especiall of my gang. Hope to hear from anyone wanting to communicate. April 29th 2009 This is a quick update(five moves later) for anyone with PD if you can check out U of Nebraska, think that is a place doing research for PD. My husband is next week taking part in new research being done here in Lexington, KY, and 12 or more places in World, for Leva Dopa - Slushy Pump, thats is the best way to describe. Same idea as a Diabetic Meds Pump. Hoping to get FDA approval in 3-5 years, done in Norway 7 years now, great improvement for most patients and little or no side effects. We are "Over The Moon", about the chance to do this, and all expenses paid by research. Also the XCell being done now in Europe, using patient bone marrow. Amazing promise and hope!!!!! June 15th we are heading back to Pittsburgh, Pa., for Norman to get back in Nuclear Field. Although we are open to the possibility of an offer coming for him to return to Brussels. "I would like to be able to dine with my 'Puppies' Take care all and drop a line! Vagabond - Patti UPDATE - April 26, 2010 We didn't move back to Pittsburgh, PA. We left Lexington, KY this February to move to Indianapolis, IN...We found quiet a few of the most amazing private schools for students with learning difficulties, and we selected one for our daughter. We love it, she loves it. Total 110 students thusfar and growing. This will be our stopping point, as we are tired and other than visits to family and friends, no more moves. Norman is on full disability now, and I don't like being more home bound, but we do what we can. His procedure for his PD was successful at least for a year. He has slowed down again, and some of the disease progression has returned. I try to not see that, but we all have good and bad days. I like to laugh, and find as much in my day to keep me going. Let the spring and summer bring you flowers and sunshine (minus the allergies)- God Bless All
