Norman's Story
After High School, I joined the Army and served 4 years. Two in Huntsville, Alabama and two in Germany. After the Army 1985, I got a job with Boeing Computer Support Services as a contactor to NASA as an engineer aide on the Space Shuttle's main engines. Just before getting out of the Army, I got a DUI which turned out to be one of the worst and best things that ever happened to me.
I turned my life over to Christ in late 1985 and was baptized on Super Bowl Sunday 1986. I met my wife at our Church and we were married in September 1987 and have been happily married ever since.
In 1990 I left my job with Boeing and went to school full time at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and graduated in 1993 with a BSBA in Management of Information Systems, Cum Laude. Thank the Lord. I started working on a contract with the Army providing programming support in 93 in the same building that was my barracks in 1981 during advanced individual training (AIT).
My oldest son Matthew was born in 1994 and my youngest son Jeremiah was born in 1997. Y2K was very good to me and my career. I still work on the same basic contract that I began in 93 but with a different company, Jacobs Engineering, and with different customers. In January 2000 I wa...Expand for more
s ordained as a Deacon in our church.
I've been coaching my sons since 1999 in practically every sport they have played. They have played soccer, basketball, some football, and always baseball. The oldest just made his High school, Sparkman High School, freshman baseball team. Both of my children are gifted academically and athletically than I ever was. Bless the Lord.
In June 2004, my wife¿s father passed away after an 8 month bout with cancer. It was devastating for both of us. J.T. was the closet thing that I ever had resembling a father. My sister, Theresia, was a big comfort to me during that time since she understood what he meant to me. She passed away two months later, August 2004, from complications with her diabetes. I was shooken and touched for what seemed like years.
My faith in Jesus continues to grow each new day that I¿m blessed to share with others. I also get the blessing of watching my children¿s faith grow as they mature. I¿m not perfect but Jesus has done a mighty work in my life and he can do the same for YOU! Sorry, but I have to give credit where credit is due.
God Bless you and yours,
Norman
p.s. Yes, just like a lot of you I'm overweight, losing hair, and can barely read without reading glasses.
