Norman's Story
Always in trouble...LOL..and never College bound, I was, pretty much, a loner at Broad Ripple. I think that, as far as High School goes, it is very important to be there during Freshman year. My Mother, in her infinite wisdom, decided to move us to Los Angeles after I graduated 8th Grade in 1967. So, I missed Freshman year and half of Sophomore year at Broad Ripple by the time we moved back to Indy in December 1968.
Upon graduation in 1971, in which I doubled-up on my subjects and graduated in January 1971... of course, I had to wait until June to get my diploma...I worked at Marsh and Kroger Supermarkets, respectively.
I joined the Navy in 1976. After Boot Camp in Great Lakes, IL and Aviation Electrician's School in Millington, TN, I got stationed at Naval Air Station Barbar's Point, HI for 3 1/2 years.
I finished the balance of my 6 year obligation as an Instructor of Basic Electricity and Electronics School in Millington, TN and left the Navy in 1982 as an E-5, Petty Officer 2nd Class.
I used the GI Bill to go to an Electronics school in Cincinnati, OH where I graduated with a Associates Degree in Electronic Technology in 1984. Joined the civilian work force in 1984 working for Rockwell International, Collins Radio Group, Dallas, TX as an Electronics Field Tech installing Alarm Monitoring equipment at local telephone companies across the US.

ernational in February 1985 to work for Trans-Lux Corporation that started in March 1985. As an Electronics Field Service Tech, my territory only covered Indiana.
Coincidentally, in 1985, I met the woman who I would eventually marry in 1992, Ginny, to whom I am still married. My first and only marriage at age 39. I helped raise Ginny's daughter who was eleven when I came into the household. I have no children of my own.
Diagnosed with Type II Diabetes late in 2001, I left Trans-Lux in February 2002 as I could no longer work in Elevated environments.
Contemplating what to do, as I had always been on the road, I decided on a drastic career change that turned out to be the absolute best. I have been a Karaoke/Mobile DJ since 2002.
Retired February 2023.
A note on the BRHS 50th reunion,
I had every intention of going but a question was raised to the Class Committee concerning COVID-19. It was determined, some 3 weeks before October 9th, that either proof of COVID vaccination be presented or a COVID test would be REQUIRED to "protect" classmates.
I refused to do either and declined to go and left it at that.
But, just so you know, just because you may have taken the so-called vaccination, doesn't mean you can't get COVID. So, my question is, WHY WASN'T IT MANDATORY FOR EVERYONE TO GET A COVID TEST...to "protect" classmates?
I guess LOGIC escaped the "Committee."
