Octavio's Story
Graduated from Kofa High School in 1985.
Kinda the shy kid in high school.
Hung out with friends from Somerton, San Luis, Gadsden, and Yuma.
Wasn't much of a sports player, very skinny, uncoordinated, and not very confident in high school.
Went to University of Arizona after high school graduation, didn't take time off.
Hung out with Rudy Ruiz, Frank Ortiz, Ramon Gutierrez, Francisco Padilla, Victor Guzman, Alex Garcia, Eddie Coronado, Graciela Calderon, and Norma Armendariz from Kofa. Met some cool new friends: Roberto Tejada Ponce, Jimmy Reynaert, Michael Nutt, Todd Hammes, and many others who added to the eclectic outlook I have in life. People try to fit me into one group but they see my friends and wonder how it's possible that I can be friends with them when it appears we have nothing in common.
I lived in Tucson for my college life. Moved to Phoenix to find better job opportunities. One of those took me to Dallas, TX but that wasn't for me, so relocated back to Phoenix,

mily history of heart attacks I decided to get a gym membership, get a personal trainer and watch my diet. I went through several trainers and made the most gains with my friend Jeremy Gunderson. Jeremy was the personal trainer/physical therapist at my chiropractors office. I worked out with him and we ended up competing in several bodybuilding shows. Jeremy has placed higher than me but we've never won 1st place due to most of the competitors not being natural bodybuilders. Jeremy also got me into Tae Kwon Do, hiking, and cycling. He helped boost my self confidence. He moved to Wisconsin and I would go out and visit and tried to find another trainer that was just as good but wasn't successful. Jeremy has moved back to Arizona so I plan to get started with him again. People ask me why I continue to use a personal trainer and I've told them that everyone is different. I see more changed in myself when I have someone there pushing me and holding me accountable for working out. Some people can do it on their own once they've been shown the correct way to exercise but for me it's also a measure of fun and variety.
