Odie's Story

G'Day Mate 5-5-2010 Well I am in Australia, I was sent here to investigate some problems on board a ship that is a FPSO(Floating Production Storage Offload)named Ningaloo Vision this a small one it will hold 600,000 barrels of crude oil, thats 33 million gallons of oil and is considered small, the ship was built in Singapore approx 1 year ago and has had commissioning problems with the production equipment that they have not been able to figure out or fix and it continue to work so they send me. The ship is named after the Nation park here called Ningaloo Reef. More Later It is Dec 9, I go home in two days. This will be the first Christmas that I have been home in 3 years. In the past I was flying what they called the Houston Express, once onboard nonstop in 17.5 hrs you are in Houston,Tx.I now have been flying Lufthansa to Frankfurt and then to Houston.Sometimes to Chicago and then Houston, and it takes 3 days to get home so I believe I will start booking my flights on the Houston Express as I will be setting at Home in less than a day compared to 3 days the other way.I just read an e-mail from G/F Kelly and it is +1 degreeF as compared to here it is 89 F and wet,it is the rainy season. WELL TO ALL, CHEERS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS Hello (Nov 17,2009) Well it has been a while since I have written anything almost a year . I have done a few things in the past year. I am still in Angola at the moment offshore about 40 miles. Only 25 more days and I go home until the 12 of Jan 2010. During this past year I got what is called Bus Fever. I went and bought a used touring bus it is a 2006 MCI(greyhound) 45'long and 8.5' wide. I had the top cut off and raised 10" and 3 slide outs installed, 2 of the slide outs are 12'X 3'and the one for the living/dining room area is 15' x 3'. This will add approx 117 sq ft.I will install the infastructure, interior and electrical. The rest I will do on my time off from work. I looked at a lot of buses from the Eagle,Van Hool,to the Provost, and every thing inbetween. I choose the MCI because it is built for 3 million miles,(mine has 300,000 miles) most of the frame and suspension is either stainless steel and or aluminum and they are the most popular coaches to convert into motor homes.I will have it completed in I hope 2 years. I am wanting to retire (I will always do something) and travel around the United States. But only during the summer until my 2 youngest finish school and start college, at that point who knows. My girlfriend and I have been looking at houses in the Dallas,TX area. We have bought one,its a little bigger than my house in Oklahoma. The housing market in Dallas area (McKinney)has been hit really hard by the recession and the economic down turn. If anybody is looking for a deal look into that area. You can buy a 3000 to 6000 sq ft custom home from abo...Expand for more
ut$190,000 to $350,000. We will rent my house in Oklahoma, we will move after school is out for the summer. This is all for now Odie (Wayne) Updated December 24, 2008...... Hello everybody, I am in Germany, the beer is great and so is the food. I will be here in Hamburg until the 16th of Oct. I fly home on the 17th as soon as I find the patch cord to my camera I will add new pictures I am not sure but I may have left the cord in Dubai, U.A.E. If I did I will pick it up on my return flight. I am doing some schooling here to get ready for the jobs that are coming up in Russia. I have bought a cu-cu clock from the black forrest here in Germany it is awesome it will look good hanging on the wall at home. Well I am back home, while I was in Germany I went to the Reppabohn in Hamburgh,Germany. It is the place where the Beattles played before they were world famous, also a place where you can find love if you want to pay for it. The area I was doing my training was in Keil, Germany, the hotel was right on the beach just my luck it was a nude beach and I was there during the start of winter. ( Damn The Luck ) I got lost in Amsterdam for a couple of days, great country those Dutch. I am headed to Dallas, Texas to pick up my kids, they have been visiting their mother during fall school break and I have't seen them since I have returned. More Later, with pictures. I added a few pic's from Germany. I received my schedule and It sucks for I will not be home for Christmas I will leave on the 30 of November and return on the 9th of Jan. My first stop is Houston,Tx for a few days and then it's off to Geneva, Switzeland also for just a few days and my final stop is in Luanda,Angola once I arrive I will add more. Happy Thanksgiving....... Well here I am in Angola at a place called Cabinda it is at the northern most end of the country, on the coast next to the Congo. There is not much in the way of tourists attractions their 20+ year civil war has left the country with little infastructure. The city of Luanda is the most advanced city in country and it still took me 8hrs to get thru the check in procedure and I already had my short term visa (STV). The weather is a balmy 80 to 85 degres F year round. We are in the rainy season now it gets approx 70+ inches of rain a year. My job here is as an advisor, pretty easy money. I spend my time between the camp and going offshore. The camp is called Malongo, it is carved out of the jungle, it is about 3000+ acres of fenced work areas and living quarters. They have some green houses here that they grow vegetables in, they are guarded by armed guards and an electrical fence. The perimeter fence has land mines on the north end of the camp. Will have pictures and more later when I get back to Malongo. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Odie Sivils
