There were three teachers that inspired me - Art in 10th, and 2 coaches from Hoffman -- names? I'd have to find my yearbooks. Many don't know what life was like in the Richardson household. Of the many days I missed, it was because of an abusive/alcoholic father. Then, the choice to run-away in 10th and move to Corpus Christi - what was I thinking? The funniest thing 'I thought' I did - actually, it was me and Kim Cook... we were headed to Dallas for drill team camp. The bus stopped south of Dallas for a restroom break - come on, 50+ girls on a 4 hour drive; what do you expect. I stayed on the bus, but Kim took off and ran back screaming about 'slot machines' in the men's room and asked if I had any quarters. Slot machines, in the bible-belt? Not what you might think... We proceeded to make the purchase for 'french ticklers' and a 'flavored' variety. Needless to say, when we got back to the bus, one of the senior girls unwrapped Kim's choice, tossed it around and it landed in someone's bag of chips. Yikes! Once in Dallas, we were sent to Ms. Elder's room for a lecture and threat to be sent back home. We giggled down the hall and laughed so hard back in our room. The rest was history!
