Ollie's Story
So, my dad retired in El Paso Texas right after I graduated from FAHS in âÃÂÃÂ73. I studied
music at the University Of Texas At El Paso in the from ÃÂÃÂ74 to ÃÂ75 and was in concert band, stage band, marching band... Held the distinguished ÃÂÃÂ1st chair ÃÂÃÂ title throughout that time and won numerous awards for outstanding soloist & stuff.
While attending UTEP, I met bassist extraordinaire, Jake Jacobs, and we formed the R&B/Fusion group Climax, which rapidly became the top band in El Paso in the late 70'ÃÂÃÂs. Additionally, our group won all of the ÃÂÃÂBattle of the BandsÃÂÃÂ contests that were held in the El Paso area.
Jake & I relocated to Houston Texas in the early 80âÃÂÃÂs upon realizing that El Paso did not provide sufficient venues for our progressive music. After performing a few ÃÂÃÂpromoÃÂàgigs, offers came in from the top jazz/fusion venues to book our new group, ÃÂÃÂChill FactorÃÂÃÂ, which quickly became the hottest jazz/fusion group in Houston.

y was taking me. I later went to work for MCI Telecommunications starting at the bottom of the food chain and worked my way up to become the highest ranking executive in Atlanta presiding over a $600m business unit. When the stock scandal hit, everything went downhill fast. I lost a 7-figure nest egg in the process and had to start all over again.
I held a number of other executive positions after the MCI/WorldCom debacle but in 2009, I figured it was time to pursue my passion; ÃÂ music. So far, I have managed to starve myself & my family half to death BUT, I'm almost on the other side now. Still plan to be famous one day... :)
I aÃÂÃÂm currently living in Atlanta. I own a music entertainment company; Atmosphere, and I provide live background music for all occasions. Musical configurations include solo artists, Jazz trio/quartets, gospel/jazz band, 18-piece swing band, harpists, string trio/quartets, etc. I love every minute of it.
In addition, I am the Director of Music for my church and I serve as a music consultant to several other churches in the Atlanta area.
