good, happy and honest life which at times means turning away from family who is negative and manipulative. I have learned, especially in the years since my oldest brother died, that family and friends should be there unconditionally, without judgement, with open arms and an open heart. My childhood was not filled with loving and nurturing relationships with our cousins, aunts and uncles due to grudges, prejudice and pride; I vowed not to raise my children that way. Although my kids are the youngest of 20+ cousins on my husbands' side of the family, they are actually pretty close to almost all of them. My side of the family only has 2 cousins but are only close to and interact with one. I always yearned to be part of a typical "Norman Rockwell" family and after travelling last year to the hometown of Norman Rockwell in Massachusetts, I realized that MY FAMILY is -- all because 2 people fell in love and started THEIR own family with God's love, grace, guidance and strength.".
