Oscar's Story
After graduation I married Debbie Salazar and started attending A&I, but only finished one semester. We moved to San Antonio where our daughter was born in 1972. I worked two jobs until we finally moved back to Kingsville when I went to work as a brakeman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Eventually we moved to the Houston area after I went to work for Amoco as an operator in a petrochemical plant January of 1977.
I have no complaints about my life. Debbie and I have been married for thirty eight years; we have a daughter and two sons. Lenore is thirty seven, Oscar is thirty five and Christopher is thirty years old so we've finished raising our family. We also have two grandchildren; for my fellow classmates who are grandparents, they are a blessing and joy aren't they?

picked up the horn around the mid-eighties and started again. It was fun performing at clubs, parties and weddings; we played blues, 50s & 60s and R&B. I was also in the sax section of one of the area junior college jazz ensembles for about 13 years. I finally tired of being out until one or two o'clock in the morning so I'm not in the band anymore. And I stopped playing jazz about two years ago when I started writing poetry, but I have started rehearsing on the tenor again. Most of what I write is about being raised in a small town and of course love, death, laughing and looking out at the world.
If there is one thing I've learned it's that there is nothing more important than family and my faith in God. I retired in March 2009, but I keep busy with family, study, writing and music. Like I said, there are no complaints.
I'm on Facebook if you want to look me up. OP
