Oscar's Story

After high school, joined the Marines with Alpha 1-9, an infantry unit in the I Corps in Vietnam. Returned to Phoenix in late 1970 and attended Maricopa Technical College in downtown. Later, I transfered to Phoenix College and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from A.S.U. Had a difficult time with life for about ten years after returning from overseas, but thanks to my mother and my wife, the two most influential individuals in my life, I was able to settle down and the rest is history. Our oldest son is a graduate of Loyola M. University in L.A. and is now a College Counselor, at Brophy College Prep in Phoenix. Our youngest son, Alonzo ...Expand for more
recently graduated from the "other school" in Tucson and is now an investigator for a State agency. I retired in June of 2010 after thirty five years as an educator and a track & field coach at the H.S. level. I am 100% blue, honey do husband. I only go out a couple of days per week to officiate swimming and track and field meets. I own a big, fat, wide and fast Marine trike, "Devil Dog" and I ride around the state on short trips with other Leathernecks. Recently joined our local Y.M.C.A. and I am a proud member of our Silver Sneakers group. Viva Geritol !! The best is yet to come as I'll reconnect with my former classmates, neighbors and friends.
