James O.'s Story

I graduated Hanceville HS in 1954 and went to the University of Alabama that fall. After 4 years, I graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering, was hired by RCA Corp in Moorestown, NJ and also commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. Part of the offer at RCA was the opportunity for Grad School at the Univ of Penn which I accepted and received my Master in Electrical Engineering in 1965 - interrupted by 1 year to attend Signal Corp Basic Officers Training at Fort Monmouth, NJ. 32 years retiring with the rank of Colonel. Two of my teachers at Hanceville got me a 4 year scholarship at the University that contributed to my career. As some of you may remember, I was a skinny kid from the Walter community not big enough to compete in football or basketball but I tried. "Stubby" Trimble was my classmate and he neally killed me on the football field!! Right now, I am retired, living with my lovely wife in New Jersey - since 1958. We have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. I just attended our 60th HS Reunion in Sep 2014.
