Pam's Story

I dropped Classmates Aug 14 2011 and NO LONGER a dues paying member. If you visit my profile, I can't see your name, not because my eyes are bad but, bcuz you have to be a member. I've been a member, since 1990, of topsca180gardengrove att y0y0, yaya, close enuff, bcuz it helps keep the scale from scaring me. when I step on it. If you want to message me I'll reply but, don't think I can see it on Classmates. I'd love to know what's been going on in your life, probably because I'm nosey. haha! When it comes to reading I can do it. Mysteries and Word Play games are my favs. How about you? On to my story. I was blessed with my daughter in Dec 1966, my son Aug 1970 and 5 grandchildren, 3 boys & 2 girls. When I eventually become a GREAT grandmother I'm just liable to hire a plastic surgeon to help me through it by putting everything back where it belongs. lol 2005 was a crappy year. On an Oct. Sunday afternoon, I found my husband dead in the back yard. He had died unexpectedly of a massive heart attack. There are no words to describe it, unless you've lived it. This was a man who never abused his body. He was an athletic all his life. No smoking or drinking. He had family living well into their 100's, same as my family and I believed we'd be married well into our 90's or longer. I never thought one day, in my 50's, I'd wake up a wife and go to bed a widow. Sadly, I learned far too early in life, if you're together long enough one dies and one grieves and when it's our time, we make that journey alone, in our heart. For those couples, who are still blessed to have one another, cherish each day and each other, so there will never be any regrets. A quick note on an experience I dealt with unexpectedly. Early in my grief I was at a public function with my head lowered. A man passing by asked me what was wrong. I simply looked up and said I was having a moment thinking about my husbands passing. To my surprise & amazement he said "You just have to get over it and move on" WOW. A$$holes are truly living among us. Needless to say, he left my sight after I ripped him a new one. I would however like to say, it was done in a ladylike manner, NOT!!! 2007 After 18 mos. in grief support I was gradually getting back to some form of normal, after losing my husband. Knowing I like dancing, a girlfriend invited me to her line dance class. Well, I do the popular line dances for fun but as they progressed I found some almost required a PHD aka Pretty Hard Dance. For me, I love the ballroom dances, oh heck, I just love to dance. I generally do ok, with a dance partner who can lead, but I'm still challenged by West Coast Swing. No worries, one day I'll get it. Given OUR age, which in my brain is still YOUNG, I won't consider myself old until I hit triple digits aka 100 yrs plus. I began attending dances held at Community and Senior Centers & also danced at studio locations. I've met and danced with many people in their 70s, 80s and yes 90s, who are surprisingly= EXTREMELY active. They're young in mind and spirit and all are my heros. Of course bars do have music, but that's not my thing. It's too dark and I wanna see who's in front of me. Plus, if I jump up and down, like we all did as teens, and call it dancing, the Gods might interpret I want rain and drown out the place. The only thing that would do is, sober up people. The bar would be happy......they'd order more drinks. Problem solved.. Update: Jan 3, 2014 I'm told I'll be a Great Grandma in June. Funny how the kids thought it was so cute to shock and surprise me with that bit of news. Now I AM going to need time to find that plastic surgeon to get me through it all. Then I remembered how much I hate needles and the people holding them. eeeeek Update: WooHoo I AM FINALLY A GREAT GRANDMOTHER now I need a nap. If my oldest grandson would've had his first...Expand for more
at 20 yrs old rather than 31 yrs. I'd have teenage great grandchildren. GEEZE Then again we'd be on our way to 6 generations again! # 1 born June 11, 2014 Ava Taylor great granddaughter # 2 born Nov 24, 2015 Jose Manuel great grandson # 3 born July 24, 2018 Emma Rose great granddaughter # 4 born Jan 10, 2020 Scarlett Nicole great granddaughter #5 info below at 2022 UPDATE Still have 2 grandchildren yet to have their own. Can't wait because........... My family had 6 generations for 8yrs & 5 generations over 35yrs. Dropped to 4 generations and now back to 5 generations. I used to be #4 in line, now with my Mom as Matriarch of the clan, I've been bumped up to #2 position or is down to #2? Something to ponder :):) 2020 UPDATE: Spring thru summer I built a She Shed aka B1tch Barn on a back patio using old wood windows and leaded glass. Majority of supplies were sourced online free, woohoo. It's not perfect and I don't claim to be a builder but, it also doesn't leak, so there. The roof was scary though, climbing on top when I hate heights. My BFF (who passed) & I used to ride the glass elevator at Crystal Cathedral up and down, just to keep my or our fear in check. Who does that? Anyway.....I love fixing up old stuff and of course I do that each time I look in a mirror. lol Occasionaly I'll sell the items online, but mostly it's for my home or backyard. During this pandemic, like you, I work to stay busy at home, clear of crowds and mask up when needing to go out. I hope you're all safe & one day soon we can party, dance & eat. 2021 UPDATE: I lost my mom Oct 1, 2021. This was beyond difficult. Rather than go into the details, I'll just say our 5 generations are back to 4 and I'm now the Matriarch. I remember when we had 6 generatons and there were 3 generatons above me and now, here I am at the top. Mixed emotions but still feel blessed. Many people never even get to enjoy their grandparents. My grandson had the priviledge of meeting my great grandmother making her his great great great grandmother who lived until he was 8 years old. So glad we took pictures to capture the moment. 2022 UPDATE: I'm now the proud GREAT gramma of my 5th grandchild. Adelina Darlene, was born 2-22-22 without inducement. Her middle name is after my moms 1st name,. My granddaughter surprised me Christmas Day 2021 with the news & the tears started flowing. 2023 UPDATE: Finally back to dancing on a regular basis since COVID. Blessings to anyone who lost a loved one or someone special during that horrific time. On a brighter note, dancing is a passion and so happy I'm getting back to it. I wish my life partner was a dancer but sadly no. He has attended a couple Senior Proms in Cypress, a couple classes and a few misc dances, but that's it. After 16 yrs, I thought I could encourage him but it just ain't happening. He loves reading and reading and reading and yardwork. Did I say he's a reader? I've been getting back to sewing as I wanted to test the waters for one of the Orange County, CA Farmers Markets but then my brain thinks of another project and away I go. Then another and another and another. So what previously was a one bedroom sewing/craft/project room has escaped to my familyroom. I'm also working on wood projects but my table saw switch went bonkers. Once plugged in the blade turns and that's NOT good. So, I now have a replacement switch and need to make the change so I can start cutting for wood projects. I think I'll stop here as my brain is getting packed and ready to go on vacation without my permission. Happens every so often. If you'd like to say hi it's topsca180gardengrove ending in hoo & com not yeehaw or woohoo because I'm still not a dues paying member but maybe I'll break down and try it again. In closing I wish health and happiness to you and say thanks for taking time to read my ramblings. :):) Pam Dove Class of 1965
