Pamela's Story
Currently trying to get used to being on my own again. I lost my husband David to cancer in July '08. He wore a button on his hat that said it all..."Cancer Sucks". When he was diagnosed in May of 2007 they said he might get two years, but he only had 14 months. He's been my "partner in crime" for the past seven years (we weren't actually criminals you know)! When we weren't both working we spent most of our time fishing.
After playing keyboards/singing in bands for the past 20+ years I've finally given it all up for a quieter life. I work for an auto manufacturer and love my job and have finally decided to go back to school (again). I earned an Associate's in AutoCAD in the late 80's and am now finally going after a Bachelor's in Business Admin/Manu. Mgmt. I like to spend every moment possible on the water. There's just nothing else like it for relaxation and fun!
After years of the single life I finally married at the tender age of 41. It turns out, I moved all the way to Lexington (by way of 16 years in Louisville), to meet a guy from Owensboro! We actually dated for about 2 months before we figured that one out!
Other "left of center" events in my life include: almost drowning in the Upper Gauley River in a class 5 rapid in '03, (it was only my sixth rafting trip! ha!), breaking my leg at a Jimmy Buffett concert in Cinci in '99, getting to play warm up for Hank Williams Jr., Billy Joe Royal and Ricky Van Shelton, all in the early 90's, (though not on the same night!).

at I didn't keep in touch regularly with anyone from school except for my great friend Holly.
Though my favorite musicians are still Buffett and John Prine, I have two favorite quotes from songs:
"I'm growing older but not up, my metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck...
let those winds of time blow over my head,
I'd rather die while I'm living, than live while I'm dead"...J. Buffett.
and most of all
"I'd have to say it now, it's been a good life all in all"....John Denver
I finally had to give up softball after 25 years of play, so these days, other than fishing, I love to paint (I actually do all my painting on gourds), and work in my yard.
I never had any children though I have a 13-yr-old cockatoo named Boomer who thinks he's a toddler. I've had him since he was 10 wks old, so he thinks I'm his mom, and he totally hates my husband since Boomer was here first! He's pretty jealous...even called my husband, "butthead"...and not too affectionately I will add! I also have two beagles, Kate and Maggie.
I have a webpage(s) that have been up since '96, though I'm in the process of moving them to a new server and redesigning them. It's pagesbypam.
Jobs in my life have included: sewing factory (Cowden's in Beaver Dam till '84), Shipping and recieiving, Sales Coordinator, Purchasing Agent, Web Developer/Designer, Tool and Die Support/automotive, and now MCP Operator/Maintenace Dept./automotive. I guess one could say my resume is well-rounded!
I love my life though I'm always striving to make it better. Aren't we all?
