Pamela Kaye Gard
Education
Alcohol/Drug Certificate-I.U. East
Received a Bachelor of Science degree in December 2000, from
Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana.
Major: Creative Writing:
Emphasis on American Indian Literature and film.
Minors: Sociology, Interpersonal Relations, Psychology of
Human Development.
Received a Master of Arts Degree in Secondary Education, May 2003.
I worked for S&M cleaning Service (parents) from ages 10-17
I was also a Graduate Assistant Secretary and Instructor Assistant from August 2002 to July 2003 at Ball State University/Educational Leadership Department.
Employed at Ball State University as adjunct faculty, teaching Multicultural
Education (five classes) from August 2003 to December 2003.
Full-time Instructor of English at Ivy-tech for three semesters from Spring 2004 to
December 2004, Muncie Indiana/taught English Composition.
Have taken several Special Education classes and Educational Leadership classes.
Skills Area
Organization
* Planned and coordinated social programs for the children in the
Schiedler community apartments on Ball State campus. Celebration
parties to get the various ethnic cultures to interact with one another.
* Coordinated volunteers for the social programs aforementioned.
* Initiated the reconstruction of the playgrounds in the Schiedler community
apartment complex.
* Initiated a program for the Muncie school system busing to take one weeks
worth of classes for students who have special needs, such as students who have
been diagnosed as mentally challenged or learning disabled.
Communication
* Member of the editorial staff of the MT CUP Review Magazine, a
publication of the English Department at Ball State University. Served as a
member of the editorial staff four consecutive semesters, 1998-1999.

* A member of the National Museum of American Indian. Smithsonian.
* Presented research at the First NationÂs Conference in Toronto Canada in
May 2002 on the Negative Effects of Stereotypes Held by Euro-American
Teachers Towards American Indian Students in Off-Reservation
Classrooms. (at Toronto University)
* Advocate for Special Education children and their families. Educate them
on the Special Education laws and their rights.
Teaching/Instruction
In the Fall of 1998, I was given the opportunity to teach a class session that
consisted of Native American Poetry and Native American Chant Poetry in
Martin WallÂs poetry class.
* In March of 1999, I gave a presentation on the curriculum problems and
remedies teaching Native Americans.
* In the Spring of 2000, I assisted under the professorship
of John Venne in English 104. This is considered a practicum.
* Tutoring at the Boys and Girls Club of America in the fall of 2000.
* Taught American Indian lesson plan about stereotypes in the culture (Nancy
BlairÂs EDMUL class March 2001).
* Taught American Indian lesson plan on the Noble Savage and the
American Indian and Modernism. (Steve GuyÂs English Honors class)
* Taught fifth graders at Mitchell School about the Crow Indian

* Participated in the Writers Round Table in Indianapolis Indiana at the
Ethridge Knight Festival of Artists in Spring of 2001.
* Taught imagery, descriptive, free-verse, nature poetry at Daleville
Elementary to the fourth grade class in March of 2002.
* Participation in Muncie Schools Classroom for the Fall of 2002-2 hours a day
in middle school and in high school. at Burris and at Delta taught the ED/LD.
* In the Spring of 2003, I taught the Undergraduate Multicultural class on
