My Spouse
I moved to Newport News to teach in August, 1974. Mike lived in the same apartment complex I moved into. I ran into him immediately, but, being warned about big city men, I didn't speak to him for seven or eight months. We were married less than a year later.
My Pets
If I were rich, I'd have a farm for unwanted animals. My dog and two cats and twenty goldfish (small pond outside) are all spoiled. Who's really the dumb animal since I go out to work while they lie on the sofa?

computer specialist. He went to Longwood, too, and then he and I went to UVa for our Master's degrees at the same time. He is married -- yes, Juli is a teacher too! -- and they have a nearly four-year-old son named Ben. Ben is the joy and energy and excitement of our lives. We are extremely blessed; they live next door to us!
My Job
I've been a teacher forever. Thirteen years of Kindergarten, now in my twelfth year in fourth grade, with a little first and second grades in there, too. My husband Mike is also a teacher and administrator.
