Pamela's Story
I hope people who knew me when I was young would remember me as a kind person. I always felt shy and different which made me more sensitive to others. As a square peg trying to fit into round holes I recognized that in others. Kindness can't be bought, but is priceless!
I'm quite different from the shy girl with thick glasses who always hid behind a pile of books. I hope I am still thought of as kind. Thanks to eye surgery I only wear reading glasses. While I am still an avid reader I no longer feel a need to hide. With shoulders back and a smile on my face I look forward to every day. I am blessed to have a small circle of very dear friends and I've enjoyed having my family move to Florida where we can get together more easily.
I've been happily married for over 46 years to Chuck, my best friend. Life by our pool in Orlando, FL is a luxury I never dreamed of in my youth. We live a quiet life filled with good friends, but never had children. I haven't been back to Beaver since the last reunion, but keep up on things by occasionally reading the Beaver County Times on-line.
My sister, Jann (Class of '67) is in St. Petersburg. She has wonderful daughter, Kellee, and she her husband, Shay, have Sydnee, their precocious 4 year old daughter. Dan, their son, and his wife Tamela have a daughter named Elyssa, born prematurely on 10/11. She is precious and thriving and a son Ian, who is adorable, was bor...Expand for more
n 10/12 . They all live in St. Petersburg, FL and are about 2 hours away. Kellee became an RN and we're so proud of her. Jann's younger daughter, Nicole, just moved back to St. Petersburg. I love my family and adore my grand niece and nephew and great niece and nephew. I enjoy the children and if I lived closer I'd spoil them. Dan and the kids are as close to grandchildren as I will ever have.
My sister, Valerie, (Class of '69), moved from Sewickley with her husband, Russ. They built a beautiful home with a pool in Gulfport, a village with tree lined streets, near St. Petersburg. That means all but one family member will live in Central FL. Val's daughter, Jessie, is out on her own, a graduate of Chatham College and in graduate school.
My husband, Chuck, teases me that my life is a vacation and I can't disagree as it is true. He retired 6/30/12 at 71. He worked until I could get Medicare when doctors confirmed I have MS. The MS affects my vision and I only drive short distances on back roads. Periodically it throws new challenges at me. All things considered life is good!
Brad Knopp organized an unofficial reunion of Beaver grads who live in Central FL and we had great time.
I hope everyone is doing well. May the Lord bless you all. I'd love to hear from you.
Pam
(p.s. On Facebook I'm holding Ruby, a friend's daughter in some profile pictures. I love her to pieces, but we're not related.)
