Pamela's Story

Some time after High School....... Got married, then divorced. Got married again. That one only lasted a year. Maybe I should have given up on that idea. Maybe the Universe was trying to tell me something...... On a wild hair-brained suggestion I decided to join the U.S. Navy in 1981 at the ripe old age of 32. Of course boot camp nearly killed me, at least I thought so at the time. However, that was probably one of the smartest things I ever did in my life. I was able to serve my country, meet interesting people and learn tons about myself. Not to mention that after surviving boot camp I was in the best shape of my life. What an adventure! While serving in the Navy I met my third and final husband. Yippee....I finally got it right! I joined the military to further my education in the computer field as the opportunities were pretty much stacked against women in the civilian community in the early 1980's. After getting out of the military, I started working as a U.S. Customs clearing agent. Stayed with that until I started having some health problems. I have been a home flunky since 2005. Being a domestic goddess was never something that I wished to aspire to, but I am trying to look at this as my new job. I haven't quite got it down yet, but I am still working on it. In my spare time I have become a facebook junkie, thanks to an invitation from a former Classmate to check out their facebook page. Had to be a member to participate. But no regrets...it has allowed me to re-connect...Expand for more
with many former classmates and shipmates that I had lost touch with. And that has been a very good thing. Of course I don't spend all my time on the computer, I use the rest of my time trying to become that domestic goddess that I mentioned earlier. Update: September 2011 Helped organize and attended a military reunion. Part of my Navy London family reunited after being apart for 25 years. It was awesome. We will not be waiting so long to see each other again. It just reminded me how important our Lee reunions are. Life is too short and you need to grab every opportunity to reunite with the people that mean so much to you. Hope to see all our Lee classmates in June 2012. (Oops, didn't make it to the 2012 Reunion. Guess now I'll have to wait until 2017. Hope to see you all then.) Update: June 2015 Well, didn't make it to the 45th Reunion. So sorry I missed it. Looked like everyone had a grand time. Took a peek at the pics that were posted on the 1967 web site. I got hooked into doing the Navy London 2nd Annual reunion, so that kept me from the Lee event. What a task and what a blast. Then we had some illness in the family and later a death. Mike's Mom passed in Jan of this year. Things have been pretty topsy turvy for the past year and a half or so. But, this too shall pass! We still have our health, so far. At least we think so. Does anyone ever really know? So, fingers crossed...we will be at the Lee 50th Reunion, as long as we are still alive. Hope to see you there!!!
