Pamela's Story
After graduating S'63, attended Harbor College, 5 semesters, and worked at Marineland on weekends and holidays to put gas in my 1960 Ford Falcon! At age 20, pursued my goal of working for an airline. Worked for TWA Reservations in Los Angeles('67-'69),on Wilshire Blvd.
REALLY wanted to fly.....Interviewed at Continental and got a job as a flight attendant, called hostesses then, and began training April '69. Based in Denver till Sept. '83 until a labor dispute and bankruptcy occurred. Applied for a flight attendant job with American and was accepted.....starting all over again, and based in San Francisco. Flew for them for 1 year....Continental settled their disputes and recalled most of us. Severed the tie with AAL, went back to CAL, and was based in Hawaii for 3 years. Base closed...went to Newark, back to Denver, and finally to Houston for my last 13 years. Flew International trips exclusively for 17 years.......Europe, Asia, South America, Australia, New Zealand,. Mexico, Canada, South Pacific....loved it. Have not been to Africa.
Married in 1971...no children, and divorced in 1985.

gain in 1994 to a CAL pilot and now have a huge family! I am step mom to 3 and grandma to 6. They all live close by and have busy lives.
Retired after 37 years of flying, in May 2006. The BEST career ever. The job changed immensely after 9-11. Had endless opportunities to see the world, met some very interesting people, and my memories are numerous.
Have attended all but one of our high school reunions, and each one becomes more precious.
We grew up in a really great place. I don't think we realized when we were teenagers how fortunate we were to be in San Pedro. I still have family living there so I do visit on occasion.
My home is in Texas now, north of Austin. I lived in Colorado 23 years, and also spent a few years in Wyoming. I never dreamed I would leave the beaches of California, but other places have proved to be wonderful as well.
I love being retired........seems like I worked forever, and had terminal jet lag! I am now having fun....taking classes and getting involved in way too many things. When I reach burn out, I will back off! Hope that's not for awhile!
