John: retired math teacher, Troy Athens HS, Troy, MI, track coach, bowling advisor. Myself: retired May 2015!! Formerly Medical Technologist- Microbiology, Beaumont Hospital (first Royal Oak, then Troy facility). Enjoy: reading (history and mystery); attending family athletic events - locally and around the country; writing/editing a genealogical publication for Oakland County Genealogical Society; volunteering...Expand for more
for other genealogical/historical organizations; watching Red Wings and Pistons; cooking & baking; and collecting dead relatives (genealogically) on annual research trips to Salt Lake City. I (mostly) eat healthy foods and am carb-conscious but will make exception any time for REAL (dark) chocolate. Adore chocolate-covered coffee beans, though I don't drink/like coffee. Having a blast with our grandchildren, ages 14, 11. 6, and 3. Some people say getting old sucks, but aside from a few aches and creaks and occasional memory lapses, there is a different attitude toward life that comes with the maturity (and wisdom??) of age. Each phase seems to inject something fascinating and new among the same-old. I wouldn't go back - not that there is much choice. Now making my own schedule and taking more time for the things I enjoy. Life is good!
