Pamela's Story
Back in 7th or 8th grade (Iforget which), we had a crazy typing teacher. When I complained my father said, "Well you don't want a job as a secretary, do you?. Now I seriously wish I had taken more typing classes.....everyone needs to type these days!
So I will tell my story slowly!
After graduation I practiced my social skills for a few years, finally graduating from U of L with a Bachelor's in Sociology. I later obtained my Master's from Walsh College in Canton, Ohio, in Counseling and Human Development..
I married Rudy McCormick (class of 68) in 1981. In 1983, Ashland Oil closed the Louisville refinery and Rudy was transferred to an Ashland plant in Canton, Ohio. I worked as Director of Social Service at a...Expand for more
small nearby hospital during this time. My son was born in 1987, in Ohio.
In 1993 Rudy accepted a job in the carribbean and I lived there for 5 years, working some of the time at Lutheran Social Services as manager of 93 housing units for the elderly and disabled.
Despite my great tan, I returned to the states when we divorced, in 1998. I found employment in Muncie, IN as a vocational counselor, under contract with the Veteran's Administration, and I also taught for Ball State University.
When the contracted position ended I moved to Owensboro and began work as the agency trainer. My sister, father, and step=mother lived there. When my son moved to Louisville and married a wonderful woman, I relocated here.
