Pat's Story

Life After graduation from WMHS, I earned a BA in Romance Languages and Literature from Boston University in 1962. Meanwhile, I met and soon married John Blackie, an engineer from England who worked at Transitron, in September, 1962. Son Jeff was born in September, 1963, while we were still living on Park Street. We bought our first house in Andover, and son Peter was born in September, 1968. John's job brought us to Southern California in the early 70s. After a couple of years, we moved from Palos Verdes to Los Altos, in Silicon Valley, and we are still here. Jeff is single and Peter has been married since 1994 and has given us a great daughter-in-law and two wonderful grandchildren. I worked in Production an...Expand for more
d Inventory Control in a few high-tech companies for about 20 years. John retired in 1991 from a firm he co-founded. I stopped working in 1996 and decided to pick up the violin again after 38 years of not playing a note. I have been playing in two community orchestras for several years now; one plays pops music, the other plays classical music. I also take violin lessons. John has since become a naturalized citizen and keeps busy on the computer managing our finances and playing solitaire. He enjoys digital photography and downloads lots of books and music. He is also our pool guy and part-time gardener. We don't travel much because I don't like to fly, but we certainly do enjoy our retirement and our family.
