Pat's Story
After High School I served a mission in Mexico. On return I received an invitation to join the U S Army. Well I went to the Navy instead. I was trained to be a Hospital Corpsman; serving for four years in San Diego. During this time I ment and married Sandi Lee Allphin and we had two children; a girl Wendy and a boy Robert.
I got out of the Navy in 1966 and went back to Salt Lake for a few months. Soon I joined the US Coast Guard. We went to California and in 2 years to a ship on independent duty as the ship medic in Juneau Alaska.

ext duty station was at Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak, Alaska in base and air rescue. i made chief there and was leading chief of base medical.
Next we went to Coast Guard Base New York as Chief of Medical Division. At this time the Coast Guard was short on medical officers so I became one with guidance form our one medical officer for a base with 2000 people living on Governors Island, New York.
After two years we traveled to beauty Hawaii where I served as independent duty medic on USCGC Jarvis 378 foot High Endurance Cutter for two seats.
