Pat's Story

Life I am now employed at an assisted living community as the Community Relations Coordinator (Marketing person). I love what I do because I help families of the elderly with a place for their parents when they need more assistance than can be given at their homes. School I have some fond memories of high school, but if I were to go back and do it over, I would want to do it knowing what I know now!!! Much smarter these days than I was then. I always wanted to be a Doctor when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a insane idea. As it turns out, they were right. I like to veg out in front of the TV or scrapbook!! I skipped an assembly one day to go work on my term paper for Contemporary History and got busted by the goofy math teacher. Fortunately Ms. Andre' wrote me a note that she had given me permission to go off campus. Ms. Andre' was also my most inspiring teacher. We've moved 6 times in the 35 years of marriage. We moved because my husband was in sales and the company he worked for promoted him to areas that were problems because he was so great at his job. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Daryl O'Neill, because I haven't seen her since our 10 year class reunion and we were best friends in high school. My obsessions are my most gorgeous grandchildren and scrap-booking. My biggest surprise in life has been ending up with my husband, Phil. He's the most amazing man. nds and then myself. To be truly happy I would be moved back to Lakeland, Florida where I would be just a short distance from my daughters and grandchildren. If I got one do over I would study harder in high school and go to college. Patsy Martin Apicella is my oldest friend. We met when we were 10 years old at Belvedere Baptist Church. We were in GA's together and have kept in touch all these years. We celebrated our 50th birthday together at Discovery Cove in Orlando swimming with the dolphins. I think what would surpise everyone at our high school reunion would be how much weight I gained since I was a skinny majorette in high school. When I was 7 I wished upon a star for a horse and my mother woke me up the next morning there was a horse in our front yard. I just knew it was my horse I had wished for, but unfortunately it had broken loose from a pasture nearby. My first job was at the Palm Beach County Property Appraisers office, where I got paid $350 a month to file. What I remember most about it is how hard I tried to finish the filing and there was no end to it for three years. After my father ran for Tax Collector and won, I became obsessed with politics. I ran for Lake Worth Inlet Commission when I was 21 and won the primary election. Unfortunately my father died between the primary and general election and I didn't care anymore about the election! I was devastated by his untimely death. Especially the reason it happened was because the doctor didn't do his job right...mis-diagnosed meningitis.
