Patrice's Story

I've had a very full and interesting life. Started out by marrying my high school sweetheart Hal. Became an Air Force wife. Moved from Dayton to Chicago. Raised a daughter now 36. Became a part of the live music scene as a vocalist for a number of years. Moved back to Schoolcraft. Raised a son now 23 along with a managerie of dogs, cats, birds, fish, a couple iguana and a whole bunch of other peoples kids (love 'em all). Kristine graduated from K-College and got her masters at American U she heads up an organization and lobbies for animal advocacy in Portland OR. Ian just graduated from Columbia in Chicago and is pursuing a career behind the camera in motion picture and audio production. We have no grandkids. I've worked in sales most of my life. I ran an upscale wine cellar, owned and operated my own business growing and providing organic herbs and produce to local restaurants and caterers. My life has been full of fun, family, friends, art, adventure and travel ... anything but boring. So, when the economy tanked in Michigan, Hal was "retired" from his job of 28 years with no golden parachute, golden, hec...Expand for more
k, no parachute at all and I now sit behind a desk at a computer in a tiny cubicle working a mundane job just to have healthcare benefits. Funny how things work out, isn't it. ** ** ** OK, so a friend of mine thought my story too boring. I'll share her comments (she is such an optimist): I like your story, but you could have ended it with a quote I came across yesterday, "Nothing in the world is constant, other than change" You left out your Italy adventure and how we ran down the pebbled streets of Siena like school children. (how you feel when you let go of the handle bars for the first time) You forgot to mention your love for the great outdoors, gardening, gourmet cooking with fresh herbs, your green life (recycling) and thumb. Your talent of turning strangers into friends by bringing them together over a great meal. How you believe in God, only you spell it Nature. How you believe and embrace "secular humanism" as did Frank Zappa and John Lennon. And that you are an autodidact of life (self-taught). And when you are gardening, you think of every day as an invitation, nature's welcome.
