Beginning this life in Rocky Mount, NC in 1948, raised by a single mother, and three aunts, 3 godmothers, and a host of Center Street family and friends, it is no wonder that I grew into a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all that encountered and engaged me. With the guidance of these folks, it is no wonder that I persisted through all the struggles, disappointments, and grief this life has presented to me. I never lost my way and my faith never quiverred. I am the mother of 3 wonderful women, two great sons, sixteen grands and a host of great-grands (stopped counting). My oldest son Henry died 14 years ago, my mother 117 years ago, sister Joan 12 years ago, and my bother Tyrone - 9 years ago; leaving my younger sister Jackie and me of our immediate family. Since the '90s, countless other family was lost as well. As indicated above, although life threw me many curves, I never lost my way. I was a single mother, raised five children, and in the in midst of all that I got a high school diploma, earned a bachelor degree and a Master of Business Administration.
